The developer of the planned Jumeirah Glasgow property has gone into administration, leaving the project in doubt.

Jumeirah announced plans for a property in the Scottish city back in 2008 (see online news October 13, 2008), to be housed within a 25-storey tower developed by BLN Property Developments.

The property had originally been due to open in 2011, but Jumeirah removed the hotel from its future developments list some months ago, and KPMG has now been appointed as administrators for BLN.

The hotel group has released the following statement regarding the Glasgow property:

“We are in regular contact with the developers and are monitoring the administration process to determine if the hotel development proceeds.”Jumeirah remains committed to the UK market and is actively looking to build on the success of its two London hotels, Jumeirah Carlton Tower and Jumeirah Lowndes Hotel.”

Jumeirah is scheduled to open its first property in continental Europe this September, a 218-room hotel in the German financial hub of Frankfurt. For more information on the Jumeirah Frankfurt .
