The plot involved an upgrade of the underwear bomb that failed to detonate aboard a jetliner over Detroit on Christmas 2009. This new bomb was also designed to be used in a passenger’s underwear, but this time al-Qaida developed a more refined detonation system, U.S. officials said.

The FBI is examining the latest bomb to see whether it could have passed through airport security and brought down an airplane, officials said.

I’m huddled with a dozen others on an outcrop at 2500 metres in the Canadian mountains.

A fire broke out in the engine room of an Azamara Club Cruises ship in Asia, resulting in guests being ‘mustered to their assembly stations’

There were no injuries reported on the 716-passenger ship, which was five days into a 17-night cruise from Hong Kong to Singapore when the fire broke out.

The company released a statement that said: “On Friday, March 30, at approximately 8.19pm ship time, Azamara Quest experienced a fire in the engine room. The fire was contained to the engine room and was quickly extinguished.

George Best Belfast City Airport celebrated bmibaby’s 10th anniversary with free tickets for the Belfast Giants games and a round of cupcakes in the terminal building. With the beginning of the summer season, bmibaby launched three routes to the Med, including Alicante and Malaga in Spain, and the southern-Portuguese Faro.

Qantas Executive Manager Customer Experience Alison Webster said international travellers flying on the newly fitted aircraft were pleased with the new services, which is in line with their flag ship A380 service.

In-flight entertainment is now available on larger personal screens with over 1,500 content Selections, Ms Webster said.

An influential business group called Friends of the Supergrid held its first conference last week in Brussels to further their objective of a Europe-wide renewable-powered electricity grid. This is a huge undertaking, connecting the national grids of EU countries together via “SuperNodes” to enable massive amounts of renewable energy to replace fossil fuels by 2050. Those of us who work with Facebook Pages are already used to the incessant changes that Facebook has introduced over the years.

However, many were startled after the latest change was announced.

When Facebook finally decided to unveil its new Timeline for company pages, they gave page owners (marketers, to be more specific) a whole new playing field with lots of new tools and only 30 days to adapt and adopt the new format.

For those who had already prepared long-term plans for Facebook marketing at the beginning of the year, this radical change must have made their familiar football pitch appear like an ice-skating rink during the half-time break.

Admittedly, Facebook is trying to make things easier by allowing page admins to preview the new look of their pages before the new design goes live for everyone without exception.

The countdown is well underway and on March 30 all Fan Pages will be converted, permanently, to the new Timeline.

With such a slew of changes and new features being introduced with this update, it would be advisable to review all critical aspects of the transition before moving to Timeline.

Yes, I’ve had several phone calls and emails about ticks. This is shaping up to be a big tick year, thanks to the unusually mild winter. A good hard winter usually controls ticks that overwinter in egg or larval form. This year we just have not had that prolonged big freeze.

The dog and deer tick life cycles require three hosts and can take several years to complete, depending on the supply of hosts.
